Rapper Alumni delivers a solid batch of hip-hop with his debut record, "Well Respected." Alumni's background is much different from that of your normal hip-hop star. Alumni has a Bachelor's in biology and a Master's in education, making him one of the most book smart rappers anyone has ever heard of. Education aside, Alumni has clearly perfected his craft as he easily fits in with the likes of Jay-Z. Need proof? Take a listen to "I'm There" or "The Answer," two standout tracks that deserve to be heard. Also, Alumni take's his listeners for a hardcore reality trip on "Strugglin'." "Tybee Tyme" by Gary Lee Tolley (Country Artist from West Virginia(WV))

Gary Lee Tolley is all over the board on his latest record, "Tybee Tyme." Although most of the tracks have that Jimmy Buffet beach flare to them, there are also some nice hints of country and Irish sounds on the album. The seaside themes are most fitting on songs like "Tybee Island" and "I've Got Mexico." Listen to any one of these tracks and you'll swear you're sitting on the sand listening to the waves rolling in. Tolley also features a cover of the Righteous Brothers classic, "Unchained Melody," a song which Gary performs with his own style and grace. Don't forget to check out "Poor Boys Delight" with its calming Celtic vibe. Tolley does offer an eclectic mix on "Tybee Tyme," but any Buffet fan will dig it for sure.

"Mother Earth and Father Time" by Trance Fury (Electronica Artist from North Carolina(NC))

Get ready to hit the clubs when you hear "Mother Earth and Father Time" a recently released CD by Trance Fury. The pulsating rhythms and key synth melodies will no doubt put you in your Friday night dance mood. "Mother Earth" and "Painted Desert" are the selections that really get you moving, as they both feature some great beats and tranced-out bass hits. This album stands alone in the trance genre though as Trance Fury gives listeners a taste of some easy listening style numbers-that is if you can even call a trance CD easy listening. Songs like "Your Savior is Coming" and "Carolina Shore" are pulled way back on the tempo scale and also feature some saturated guitar tones. Although "Mother Earth and Father Time" isn't your average 70 minutes of raving trance CD, it is a great disc and will be loved by any fan of the genre.

"In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul" by Harry Smyer (Spiritual Artist from California(CA))

Harry Smyer is a talent that we hope will be heard by the whole world soon enough. His record, "In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul," is a tasty mix of 50's soul and southern gospel. Although each song is spiritually themed, this shouldn't stop you from giving this record a good chance if that genre isn't your thing. Smyer's vocals are steeped in the sounds of Sam & Dave or Eddie Kendricks, which is no easy feat. Whether it's "Walk Around Heaven All Day" or "I Got Something Within Me," Smyer consistently delivers a fine performance and will make you wish he was preaching down the street from your house. There is also a beautiful classic gospel cover, "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," which he eloquently puts his own stamp on. Be sure to give a good listen to the fine guitar playing on this record which is very James Burton-esque. Whether you're a gospel fan or just looking for some good soul music, Harry Smyer and his album, "In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul," is the way to go.

"Let It Go" by Fishing With Dynamite (Country Artist from Georgia (GA))

Charlie Daniels once said "The South's Gonna Do it Again" and it very much has with the recently released CD, "Let it Go" by the country rock group Fishing With Dynamite. The Southern Rock genre has had a gaping hole in it every since the tragic lost of Lynyrd Skynyrd's front man Ronnie Van Zant, but Fishing With Dynamite is gladly taking the reins of contemporary southern-fused rock. Give "Gone and Faded" a good listen and you'll know exactly what we mean. The band oozes Charlie Daniels with the use of violin as the primary solo instrument and kicks it up a notch with the rocking vibes of the band, The Outlaws. They also tone it down a bit and play some heartfelt country tunes on songs like "For Granted" and "Hank, I Hope You Were Right." Also, be sure to listen to the excellent slide guitar work on "Backwoods Man." Any fan of Charlie Daniels or Toby Keith will love "Let it Go" as this disc is filled with good old country rock.

"Experienced Zydeco Riders" by E.Z. Riders (Rock Artist from New York (NY))

The blues/rock band, E.Z. Riders, have released a throwback to the days of Humble Pie with their latest effort, "Experienced Zydeco Riders." Their roots are obvious, with raging Steve Marriott guitar riffs and gritty vocal tones reminiscent of early ZZ Top. "Witchy Woman" is by far the best track on the CD and is not an Eagles cover. Instead, it is an E.Z. Riders blues jaunt, filled with Lynyrd Skynyrd style slide guitar playing. That is really what this band and this disc are all about; strong and rocking guitars. If you crave more string bending guitar action, give a listen to songs like "I Should Have Quit You" and "Mean Mistreater" and you will get your fill. "Experienced Zydeco Riders" belongs in the hands of any 70's blues/rock fan.

"Note-ified" by Mike Ringler (Rock Artist from Florida(FL))

The sounds of the late 1960's psychedelic movement are still alive and well! Don't believe us? Well, just listen to "Note-ified" the latest release by Mike Ringler and you may reconsider your answer. The CD opens with that staple fuzz guitar tone on the song "You Can Shine," a track that also features vocal work very reminiscent of The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. Ringler also delves into the British sounds made popular by The Beatles and The Hollies with songs such as "Hope" and "We Know You're Right." There is also an excellent guitar solo on "Words Through Time," which has a cool Moody Blues effect to it. All in all, "Note-ified" screams of "flower power" and is a great album for any fan of that wildly colorful era.

"Anything But Love" by Brooksie Wells (Rock/Pop Artist from New York (NY))

Female vocalist/songwriter Brooksie Wells serves up some well-written pop/rock with a touch of blues on her latest album, titled "Anything But Love." Wells' vocals glide through each track with style and grace while delivering crisp and clean clarity. Wells has a talent for writing, as her lyrics are well-composed with meaningful content. Be sure to take note of the dynamic balance between vocals and instruments giving this album a high-quality sound. Look no further for that old school guitar sound on tunes such as "Talk to You" or "Loose End." Feel the bluesy tones of the harmonica on "High Road" while the background vocals balance out this catchy little tune. Fans of Bonnie Raitt or Dixie Chicks won't be disappointed when hearing Brooksie Wells' "Anything But Love," full of pop blended with blues.
