"Funkmeister" by Hugh Jarvis Hitchcock (Pop Artist from Florida(FL))

Hugh Jarvis Hitchcock and his debut CD, "Funkmeister" is an album that spans fluently across many genres. At some moments it's urban and jazzy, other times it's 80's music with some world beat flare. Female vocals, keyboards, and a drum machine make for some smooth, catchy, and fun songs. The album is best represented by the track, "Out of Control," as it has a fast paced world drum beat, jazzy saxophone, and a funky bass line that really moves. The stand out single is "All I Know" as this song offers a slower moving beat with soft and sweet vocals. "Funkmeister" will surprise you at every turn, from its ever-changing genre, to samples of George W. Bush speeches and is definitely a great album to hear if you're looking for a variety of music with vibrant rhythms.

"Written Roads" by The Shells (Country/Rock Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"Written Roads" by The Shells is a strong and powerful Alternative Country/Rock album. The CD, being Alternative Country, fuses in many Rock style elements with melodies that are pure Country in which this creates a hard-hitting and fully enjoyable listen. The opening track, "All I Need is Time" stays true to the band's down-home Country roots both lyrically and melodically. The harmonies in this track fits perfectly while each note played by the acoustic guitar complements the vocals as the emotional lyrics are of pain and the need and will to recover. The song, "I Will Believe You" relies on a progressive tempo and ambient notes that puts the listener in a smooth trance. Country is well-showcased in this album and for those fans who love bands like the Dixie Chicks and singers with the same range and tone must experience the exceptional compositions and lead vocals/harmonies of "Written Roads."

"Island Ecstasy" by Frank Tuma (Latin Artist from Florida(FL))

"Island Ecstasy," the new CD from Frank Tuma, is designed to transport us all to the warm Caribbean Islands. It is an instrumental album replete with all the variety of Caribbean style percussive instruments, guitars, and piano, accompanied with a heavy emphasis upon the upbeat and expressive steel drum. On the first track, "Caribbean Dancing," there is a quick and excited beat over which we hear talented steel drumming played at a speed that will baffle and excite the ears. "A Bit of Africa in the Caribbean" is a song that lives up to its title as it is a cool blend of African and Island drum sounds, with flutes and steel drums doing the singing. For the song, "Living My Dreams," Frank slows it down a little and uses his island rhythms as a relaxant. Whether you are already a fan of the sounds of the Caribbean Islands, or appreciate when an album attempts to mentally transport you to another place, then you should give the "Island Ecstasy" CD a try.

"Number Theory" by Richard Potter (Classic Rock Artist from North Carolina(NC))

Demonstrating a real mastery of his '50's and '60's influences, Richard Potter's latest CD, "Number Theory," is a thoroughly satisfying pop-rock hybrid album that succeeds on all levels. From echoes of '60's-era Neil Diamond (CD-opener, "Tell the Angels I Love You") to American Grafitti-era rock'n'roll ("Love is Blind") to the wonderfully Pulp Fiction-esque feel of the title track (featuring a terrific Herb Albert-inspired trumpet lead), Potter's solid sense of melody and pop dramatics gives his new 10-song collection a real cinematic flair. Elsewhere, "So Long" is a tuneful ballad blending Music Hall-style banjo strumming with the melancholy strains of cello, while "AM Radio (Everything I Need To Know)" is a driving rocker that's as convincing as the singer-songwriter's lighter, more pop-oriented songs. With an abundance of captivating melodies, interesting arrangements and solid performances, "Number Theory" is a terrific CD that showcases Richard Potter's original and contemporary musical vision to best effect.

"Studio 71" by LUCIA (Pop Artist from Florida(FL))

"Studio 71" is a catchy and comfortable Pop album by the talented singer/songwriter LUCIA. Her very natural Jazzy voice is supported by R&B instrumentation with Pop and Rock flavors. The songs, "All of It" and "Ball of Hypocrisy" show off her more upbeat and catchy side. But she also shows her soft side with delicate tracks like "Dream You Alive" and "A Little More Time." "American Spirit" by Kris Hollis Key (Country Artist from New Mexico(NM))

Kris Hollis Key picked the perfect name for his latest album, "American Spirit." The first thing that comes to mind when you start spinning this album is sitting on a porch in the heartland of America. Hollis sings with a solid Country twang while his songs are splashed with rootsy Country and early Blues music. His vocals complement the laid back lyrics which bring out interesting melodies with down home Southern qualities. Tracks like "Honey I Still Miss You" feature some nice embellishments of fiddle, harmonica, and slide guitar. Other tracks are driven by clean rhythm guitar and a quick drum beat as you will hear on the song, "Gonna Catch a Wild One." Overall, "American Spirit" has all the elements of a great Alternative Country album.

"Last Round" by Joe Genuardi (Rock Artist from Florida(FL))

The debut album, "Last Round" by Joe Genuardi is a fresh and well made "piano man" album. Genuardi has a strong, clean voice and can play the "ivories" like the best of them. His lyrics don't sound trite or half-baked, like you occasionally find with others in this genre. From the title track, "Last Round" Genuardi shouts out to the men he obviously pulls influence from: Elton John and Billy Joel. His songs range from the upbeat and uplifting "Time Goes On" all the way to bleeding heart ballads like "Show Me the Way." Joe Genuardi has produced an excellent Adult Alternative/Pop album in "Last Round" that has at least one song for everyone.

"Grandma Mary's Latin Rock" by Mary Ho (Latin/Blues Artist from Singapore)

"Grandma Mary's Latin Rock," from the 71-year-old Mary Ho, is a release filled mostly with calm and mellow renditions of popular songs. The background instrumentation is relatively simple throughout the album, yet it is professional and not overbearing. This is because the focus of this instrumental album, is on Mary's articulate and skilled guitar playing. On "Black Magic Woman" we really get a sense of Mary's bluesy side as she plays with soul and gusto. On "Apache" we are presented with a quasi-soothing western song in which she lets her guitar sing out in a lovely fashion. On the final track, "Canon Rock," Grandma Mary rips out some hot rock lead guitar riffs! This album is filled with numerous genres and sounds; it is for the most part a tranquil album, with some rockers mixed in as well. You will appreciate this album if you want to be inspired by an album that demonstrates that a love for music is a lifelong passion.

"Prove Me Wrong" by Nancy Casteele (Adult Contemporary Artist from Nashville, Tennessee(TN))

"Prove Me Wrong" by Nancy Casteele is an outstanding record for adult contemporary music lovers. The strong instrumentation comprised of guitars, piano, organ, and percussion accentuate and compliment Nancy's fresh voice. While the songs display varied tempos and pleasant melodies, the gritty, piercing lyrics express triumph over failed romantic experiences, strength and self-confidence. The solid backing vocals on the track "A Beautiful Shame" nicely lay behind Nancy's powerful lead vocals, while the catchy chorus adds a strong kick to the song.
